The truth about paintballs

How can the Giant discount stores sell paintballs for so cheap?

In my opinion:

You have to compare apples to apples

The paintballs sold at discount stores have no quality control. How often do you see the clerks flipping the boxes and checking for broken paint. What is the store policy for dealing with broken paint sold there. In my opinion, the paint being sold is of 2nd quality, (rejects) or OLD PAINT(over 90 days old) that has been reboxed, relabeled and still overpriced.

The reason the paint is so popular is because it has been stated it wont break in your gun and it is cheap. Because of the inferior shell used and the age of the shell, and the thin watery paint it should not even be sold, it is that unsafe. In many instances, the flashy packaging is more expensive than the product. Those brands are labeled by many in the industry as The most dangerous paintballs sold and Rarely show up on a professional field because of how unsafe they are.  If the paint was that cheap and good, every paintball field would have those brands on their field to sell.

The best Professional paintball Field owners are in the business of ensuring the safety of all the players on the field. That includes new players and experienced players. The quality paints break very easily just by dropping them on the ground.

Getting hit by cheap paintballs really hurts and that's why many paintball fields are Field paint only. It doesn't take long to understand when you are getting hit with paintballs that don't break. It is not just about profits for the field, it is about safety and just having fun so you want to come back and play again and again.

When regulars are supporting your field by buying the field paint and you still allow players to bring their own paint and they are bringing this discount store trash and hurting my regulars, this field owner will demand they use a quality paint or just give my regulars some of the same trash to prove a point.

Having to deal with players on my field using these inferior paintballs and the players complaining that their marker isn't working right or not shooting straight.  It is a waste of time and money and very frustrating when you spend big money on your new barrel, but your paint isn't hitting it's mark. Why do that to yourself.

Most injuries in paintball, happen off of a professionally run paintball field. Typically a player that has some trees out back and think that they don't need to chrono their markers, don't need referees, don't need the proper safety equipment. Add the inferior properties of an old paintball, and you will hurt somebody, in some cases blindness results. There is a huge amount of liability you take on when you play out back in your trees. Don't just listen to me, ask a lawyer about the liability sometime, or check with your insurance agent about it.

Bottom line, if you do buy paintballs from a discount store, you should call the store and ask them where and when they were made and if they will replace paint that is broken. If they don't know when it was made, they can find out by calling the paintball dealer and should.

We do.

Quality Paintballs have a 90 day shelf life - any more and they start to deteriorate and soon get as hard as rocks. We have examples at our field to show players.

We want a born on date on every box of paintballs - just like pop, beer, food labels
